Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, generating strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Damage

Homeowners observed giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around one thousand households in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

• The Werribee area - recorded significant destruction
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple emergency calls
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on Sunday, more than 28k energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.

Safety Concern

Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
